Job Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer position is responsible for improving product flow and throughput, procuring proper equipment and tooling, designing fixtures and dies, and assisting in the development and maintenance of a Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) program.
Main Job Duties / Responsibilities
- Ensure a safe working environment is maintained at all times.
- Lead cross-functional teams to improve product flow and increase throughput by evaluating plant layout and manufacturing processes.
- Participate in developing and maintaining a Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) program that covers all facilities and equipment.
- Prepare specifications, evaluate supplier quotations, and develop requisitions for equipment.
- Design and/or procure the necessary tooling, fixtures, and dies.
- Maintain equipment inventory list and preapre & update anticipated capital expenditure list for all facilities.
- Periodically perform time studies and payback analyses.
- Work closely with maintenance and plant personnel to resolve equipment and facility problems in a timely manner.
- Participate in general process improvements and initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Five or more years of Manufacturing Engineering experience required.
- Five or more years of Manufacturing Engineering experience in a heavy metal fabrication industry preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Strong mechanical abilities.
- Excellent judgement and decisiion-making abilities.
- Strong knowledge of plant operations (i.e. forming, welding, machining, and fabricating)
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing Principles and Tools preferred.
