Job Summary
The HSE Coordinator is responsible for implementing and maintaining health, safety, and environmental programs, procedures, and guidelines within the company. Position ensures compliance with alll local, state, and federal health, safety, and environmental laws, regulations, and guidelines.
Main Job Duties / Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain health, safety, and environmental programs, procedures, and guidelines to ensure there is a safe working environment for all employees.
- Organize and perform new hire safety training and periodic employee safety training meetings to ensure employees receive the necessary instruction to perform their duties safely.
- Conduct on-site investigations of accidents, incidents, and near misses; prepare reports and make recommendations for procedual changes as necessary.
- Ensure routine safety and environmental inspections are performed and documented; report non-compliance and/or hazardous conditions and recommend remedial action as appropriate.
- Ensure all necessary paperwork is promptly filed with OSHA, EPA, and KDHE.
- Serve as the primary contact for any governmental communications or inspections as it relates to health, safety, and environment.
- In concert with the claims administrator, actively manage open Workers Compensation claims.
- Provide advice and guidance to supervisors and managers regarding HSE issues and assist them in determining safe working practices through risk asessment and effective management systems.
- Organize, update, and control the corporate HSE manuals.
- Inspect, evaluate, and oversee the maintenance and disposal of all hazardous materials stored on company property; periodically monitor usage and make recommendations as appropriate.
- Provide safety performance metrics and detailed accident information to allow tracking and analysis for future improvement.
- Maintain knowledge of current and emerging health, safety, and environmental issues and trends and communicate to management their potential effect on the company.
Qualifications
- Associates degree or equivalent is required.
- Five or more years of HSE related experience required, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
- CSP certification is a plus.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of federal, state, and local health, safety, and environmental laws and regulations.
- Extensive experience in performing safety and environmental inspections and in conducting accident investigations.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent oral and written communcation skills.
